Note: This SEP event was likely primarily driven by a far-sided partial halo CME to the northwest first detected by SOHO LASCO C2 coronagraph imagery at 2023-07-16T04:42Z. Initial background elevation of the proton flux at GOES may have been due to the combined effects of a C8.8 flare with start time 2023-07-15T19:50Z from AR13363 (S22W45) as well as a CME first visible in SOHO LASCO C2 imagery at 2023-07-15T20:13Z. Analysis of this event is still ongoing.
